There are three components to a teacher’s eligibility: citizenship, education, and personality.
In order to obtain a visa to teach in China Korea, you need to be from one of the following countries and hold a valid citizenship: America, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, if you are from outside of one of these countries, immigration will not grant the appropriate visa for teaching abroad.
To qualify for a visa and get hired by a school in China, you are required to have a Bachelor’s degree from an English-speaking academy. Many of our teachers will also have Master’s degrees, which is a great bonus. You will also require a 120-hour TEFL teaching certificate. Don’t let the need for TEFL to be a barrier though, as we have lots of great partners who you can get qualified through.
Adjusting to a new culture and work environment can be very demanding, and we have found that teachers who are flexible and driven in nature excel in this type of teaching environment.
Each job will vary slightly in nature; however, each role represents the opportunity to grow personally and professionally as you teach English abroad. You can find yourself teaching English to kindergarten aged children, or teenagers. You will be given a curriculum that guides you through the school year, with the ability to add your own flare. Unlike some other opportunities abroad, contracts in China offers great work life balance as some contracts have as low as 15 hrs a week of teaching. The specifics of each job will be addressed along the application and interview process with Adventure Teaching.
A Full Time Job
A majority of our teachers find themselves teaching abroad straight out of college. Teaching abroad provides both the stability of a full time job and the excitement of a new environment.
Housing will be provided by the school. You will live in an apartment close to your school which you can expect to include a kitchen space, bed, appliances such as a fridge. Having housing provided with a job is unique to this profession and is a huge benefit.

“My husband and I moved to Shenzhen to teach English in February 2018. We loved it so much that we remained for another year. We even adopted a cat! Our experience inspired us to attend grad school to get our master’s in TESOL and a teaching license. I will always cherish my time in China and I highly recommend it to anyone wishing for an adventure and new challenge. “
